Staying beautiful can be lots of work! In addition to the usual makeup, hair, and skin, perfume is another essential element of beauty. Perfume has been used among women for hundreds of years. Yet, it is becoming more and more common for girls, preteens, and adolescents to wear perfume as well. The trend of wearing perfume is on the rise-the only question now is what kind to wear!
Too Many Types
There are four basic fragrance families in which fragrances can be classified. These groups include: fresh, floral, oriental, and woody perfumes. Preference for a certain group or family is usually determined by the wearer’s personality.
Fresh perfumes are often worn by girls who are playful and energetic. Typically, these fragrances are made from ingredients such as ice, citrus, green plants, and water. Common scents that fall into this category are Green Tea Eau de Toilette by L’Occitane and Clean Eau de Parfum by Dlish. Many people like fresh perfumes because they often times are more subtle and don’t make you smell like you are wearing a heavy, overbearing scent.
Another group that fragrances fall under is floral. Floral scents are considered the most popular out of all the different perfume families. People who wear floral scents, which are comprised of gardenia, rose, and jasmine, are perceived as feminine, elegant, and romantic. The last fragrance group is the woody scents. These scents are soothing and nurturing.
